Family therapy

The family is the first environment in which we experience and develop as human beings. It is within this nucleus that we establish the basis for interpersonal relationships throughout our adult life. Parents and other family caregivers provide safety, security and emotional support to children, allowing them to explore the world and develop in a healthy way. However, those harmful patterns that we unconsciously repeat as adults probably originated during childhood, as survival mechanisms in the face of coercive, overexerting, overprotective, abusive or neglectful family systems. For this reason, work on family dynamics is fundamental.

About my service

In family therapy, we focus on addressing the problems of a family system as a unit, rather than treating each member individually. The objective is to help members identify dysfunctional patterns of relating, communicating and behaving, and develop skills to establish strategies and find healthier alternatives that foster cohesion, support, harmony and wellbeing of its members as a system.

Family therapy can address a wide variety of issues, such as communication problems, family conflicts, relationship problems, behavioral problems of children and adolescents, mental health problems, exposure to traumatic events, and problems of family transitions such as divorce or death of a family member.

Initiating family therapy can be a transformative and enriching experience for everyone involved. It is an opportunity to understand and heal negative patterns that may be affecting the relationships and quality of life of each member of your family. It is also an opportunity to strengthen family ties, improve communication and develop skills to face future challenges together. Family therapy can be a valuable investment in the wellbeing and happiness of your entire family.
